I am sharing today, Monday, because tomorrow is my Nightstand post…

Looking out my window…seems it is going to be dark every week this time of year.  It’s a mild morning.  Going to be another beautiful day in the Ozarks!

I am thinking…about many things right now.  Grandma, my job, our future, hubby’s job, our son, and of course, the girls.

I am thankful…that I have such wonderful encouraging friends here at my blog.

One of my favorite things…bon fires

Looking forward to…a trip that hubby and I have planned in November.

I am wearing…bath robe.  I haven’t gotten ready for work yet…

I am creating…a new shawl!  It’s done with large needles and bulky yarn so maybe it won’t take as long… (right, I know, who am I fooling!)

I am reading…1001 Arabian Nights and The Cottage by Michael Phillips

I’m listening to…War and Peace (ugh!!!)

I am hoping…that our fall weather sticks around for a long time and winter holds off.

I am learning…(again or still) to trust in Him.

In my kitchen…if you see repeats from last week it’s because we had so many leftover that we tried to clean them up more often.

Monday – Baked fish

Tuesday – Oven BBQ chicken legs

Wednesday – Ravioli Casserole

Thursday – White Chicken Chili

Friday – Chicken and rice

Saturday – Pizza

Sunday – Leftovers

In my garden yard…I need to cut the grass.  The wind will blow a lot of these leaves away if the grass is shorter…

A moment from my day Closing Notes:  Please bare with me as I try to find some routine in this new life.  I have not been able to get around to everyone’s blog this past week.  Work has been busy and then once I get home… well, you know.  Thank you for sticking with me.

Looking out my window…It’s still dark and the full moon is shining bright.  Gorgeous morning!

I am thinking…No matter where my girls are in their life, they know I am here if they ever need me.

I am thankful…for the peace that I am beginning to have where they are concerned.

One of my favorite things…walking through the woods in the fall.

Looking forward to…being settled in a new routine.

I am wearing…taupe color dress with brown wedges, turquoise jewelry.

I am creating…a guest area.  Complete with “on suite”. Pictures to come later.

I am reading…1001 Arabian Nights and The Cottage by Michael Phillips

I’m listening to…Caleb’s Crossing by Geraldine Brooks

I am hoping…that my girls will come around soon.

I am learning…sometimes we just have to learn the lessons the hard way.

In my kitchen…it’s hard to meal plan when it is just grandma and our son… I’m still not eating a lot of the things that I fix for them.

Monday – Grandma and I will have some leftover vegetable beef soup

Tuesday – Meatloaf

Wednesday – Ravioli casserole

Thursday – Oven BBQ Chicken legs, baked sweet potatoes, and green beans

Friday – Leftovers

Saturday – Pizza

Sunday – Baked fish with rice and broccoli

Around the homestead (in place of the school room)…The pastures seem very bare without the cattle.  The sounds are quite different without the crows of our rooster.  Things have changed around here.  It’s going to take some getting used to.  Not sure what I will share in place of the homestead…

In my garden yard…the leaves are beginning to fall and blow across the yard.  Soon I will be “vacuuming” them up and dumping them in the woods.  Hubby and I planted some new shrubs out in the front of the house.  Put some pumpkins in place for fall decorations and that’s about it.

Shared Quote… a little humor this morning.

A moment from my day Closing Notes: If things don’t stop changing I won’t even know my name by the end of the month! 🙂   I will be changing up my Daybook post to reflect some of these changes.

Posting a day early because tomorrow is my Nightstand post.  I really prefer to keep it to one post a day around here.

Looking out my window…It’s cloudy and 59*!  Wow, what a difference a day makes in the Ozarks.  We had 91 here this weekend.

I am thinking…what it must be like to be 91 years old; still have your mind most of the time, to be healthy, to have lost most of everyone you know and love, and to wonder why God has left you here and taken them all.

I am thankful…for each day that Grandma is still with us.

One of my favorite things…Celebrating loooong birthdays! 🙂

Looking forward to…to actually sharing my knitting progress this week.  I only have one more color block to go and I will be finished with this scarf.

I am wearing…blue jeans and a safety shirt from my work place.

I am creating…some fun and interesting blog linkups!  I love this time of year!

I am reading…1001 Arabian Nights and Of Mice and Men

I’m listening to…The Lotus Eater

I am hoping…for answers for my SIL.  She has battled her health for several years blaming her symptoms on mold allergies.  She was greatly mistaken.  They did send her home but with no answers.

I am learning…to balance my life.

In my kitchen

Monday – Tuna Casserole

Tuesday – Beef tips with noodles

Wednesday – breakfast

Thursday – Chili

Friday – Leftovers

Saturday – Pizza

Sunday – Roasted chicken with veggies

Around the homestead (in place of the school room)…Hay is done!  We have put everything away for the year.  We are going to do hay next year and then sell our equipment because it will be better to sell it during the season instead of in the fall.  One more week to go on the feeder steer.  Both my parents are anxiously awaiting their halves of this beef.

In my garden yard…Grass has been mostly slow growing with the cooler temps.  It’s the weeds that need to be cut.  I will go next week and purchase Mums for the front garden beds.  I put them in pots not in the ground.

Only two days until Fall…

Looking out my window…It’s a partly cloudy morning.  The sun is peeking over the horizon.  The air is still and it’s a nice 69*.

I am thinking…that as much as I love fall, I am not ready for summer to be over.

I am thankful…that hubby and I can be an encouragement to each other.  It seems like when he is down, I am up and when I am down, he is up!  We make a great team!

One of my favorite things…the diversity of blog templates!  I love to move things around in the house so it feels natural to move them around here.

Looking forward to…our son is having senior pictures the 8th of October!  It’s our last one!

I am wearing…my new skinny jeans with a long three quarter length sleeve blouse, and brown wedge sandals.

I am creating…that scarf I am working on is moving along.  I’m determined to get to wear it this winter!  Then there are so many new patterns that I have found!  Just can’t wait to cast on something new.

I am reading…1001 Arabian Nights

I’m listening to…Bleak House by Charles Dickens and Year of Wonders by Geraldine Brooks.

I am hoping…that I am always aware of what “I am learning” and not always looking to the future for something other than what I have and where I am.

I am learning…to enjoy each day instead of wishing my life away.

In my kitchen

Monday – Mexican

Tuesday -Salmon (tuna) patties, asparagus, and rice pilaf

Wednesday – Meatloaf, potatoes and gravy, with corn

Thursday – Lasagna with salad

Friday – Homecoming (everyone on their own!)

Saturday – Leftovers

Sunday – Grilled BBQ pork steaks (missed this one last week)

Around the homestead (in place of the school room)…Two more weeks of feeding this steer and he will be steaks on somebodies table!  Sorry but when you have done this as long as we have it tends to get a little tiresome

In my garden yard…I cut the grass last week, a little shorter than normal.  It does not need cutting as of yet! LOL!  Mission accomplished!

Looking out my window…The sun is shining brightly with a few whispy clouds.  It’s another gorgeous day.

I am thinking…that I will never have a good routine again.  Life is just willy nilly right now and I don’t have an exact time to sit and do a blog post any more.

I am thankful…for the willy nilliness of our days! 🙂

One of my favorite things…riding our motorcycle on a beautiful Sunday afternoon!

I am wearing…my new favorite pair of jeans, an Aztec print blouse, with cowboy boots.

I am creating…nothing new.  Still working on that scarf and menu plans

I am reading…1001 Arabian Nights

I’m listening to…Bleak House by Charles Dickens

I am hoping…to get caught up on laundry this week.

I am learning…to value each moment that I have to spend with my family.

In my kitchen

Monday – Toasted Ravioli with salad

Tuesday – Salisbury steaks with egg noodles and peas

Wednesday – Pancakes and bacon

Thursday – .Mexican

Friday – Leftovers

Saturday – Pizza

Sunday – BBQ Pork steaks

Around the homestead (in place of the school room)…Very much the same as last week.  Hubby is getting ready to do a second and final cutting of hay. {{sigh}} we really don’t want to but the field owner is asking to have it cut.

In my garden yard…I need to cut grass again.  Maybe I’ll do that tonight while the laundry is going.

A moment from my day Closing Notes: I’ve noticed that the days are getting very short.  This is the time of year that I love the most.  It seems like my home is quieter and cozier.  We all love being in the same room each doing our thing around a nice fire crackling in the fireplace.  I know, sounds great doesn’t it!?

Hope everyone had a Happy Labor Day!!!

Looking out my window…Sunny and getting warm again after our nice break from the heat.

I am thinking…about some wedding planning news that our oldest dropped on us last week.  It is not “official”.  They are not “engaged” but they are discussing the possibility.  {{sigh}} Am I ready to be a “mother -in- law and a “step” grandmother?

I am thankful…For the timing.  Hubby has gotten more used to the idea of our oldest being with this particular man person.  He has quite a history and has left us with some anxiety.  Hubby now just wants her to be happy.

One of my favorite things…Spending time just lounging around with my hubby.

I am wearing…black and white check dress (kind of retro-ish)… Black heels

I am creating…new posts.  Trying to get back to doing my book reviews. 😉

I am reading…1001 Arabian Nights

I’m listening to…The Time Keeper

I am hoping…for a smooth week after being off work for 4 days!

I am learning…I really need to take those days to rest and get my mind calm so that I can be more productive.

In my kitchen

Monday – Grilled Chicken, rice pilaf, and broccoli

Tuesday – Cheeseburgers and fries (kids favorite)

Wednesday – Breakfast

Thursday – Beef roast with potatoes and green beans.

Friday – Leftovers

Saturday – Pizza

Sunday – Baked fish, rice, and roasted veggies

Around the homestead (in place of the school room)…It’s nice to have all the girls back in our home pasture.  I worry too much about everyone when they are out of sight.  When fall gets here and all the vegetation dies back I am going to clean out the raised beds.  Didn’t do it last fall and it has looked so bad around here all summer.  That and I just love being outside in the fall.

In my garden yard…I think the grass has slowed its growing a little.  We mowed Thursday and it still looks nice.

A moment from my day Closing Notes: I’m late getting my post up today.  After we got home yesterday mid morning I was too lazy from being lazy all weekend to do anything.  I didn’t even pick up a book.  I wondered around the house thinking, “I really need to do something”.  But then I’d just go lay back down again.  {{sigh}} glad that doesn’t happen very often! 🙂

Looking out my window…The sun isn’t even up yet and it is very warm and humid.  I keep telling myself that this oppressive heat and humidity will make for a beautiful fall display!

I am thinking…about our weekend plans for Labor day. Hubby and I are going to a resort at the Lake of the Ozarks for two of the four days.  Then we will be home with family the other two days.  Swimming and BBQ sound nice, don’t you think?

I am thankful…for all my blogging friends who are such an encouragement when I need it!

One of my favorite things…sunshine… beautiful sunshine (but without the extreme humidity that we are having. LOL!)

I am wearing…Red dress with black trim and big black buttons, black heels.

I am creating…alternate plan for our son.  We have withdrawn his application from the Air Force.  After graduation we plan to help him enlist in the Army.  The Air Force is just a really tough branch to get into.  You can have NO physical defects (allergies included).  Crazy.  But we will not be deterred.  We are determined to help him be successful.

I am reading…1001 Arabian Nights and the last 50 pages in Harry Potter #7!!!

I’m listening to…Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad

I am hoping…to increase my reading and knitting time.

I am learning…that God has another better plan for us.

In my kitchen

Monday – Tuna Casserole with salad

Tuesday – Tater Tot casserole with broccoli

Wednesday – Mexican

Thursday – Meatloaf

Friday – Leftovers

Saturday – Pizza

Sunday – Fiesta Lime Chicken

Around the homestead (in place of the school room)…we moved the cows this past weekend from the summer pasture to our home for the last time ever.  Everything looks healthy and all is well on the homestead.

In my garden yard…we are going to plant a tree in the front yard.  I have asked hubby over the years not to because it makes mowing so much more difficult.  But, now I see the need for a tree to shade my kitchen window in the afternoon hours.  So some landscaping is in our future.

A moment from my day Closing Notes: I’ve been trying to be an encouragement to at least one person each day.  There for a while I was so consumed with helping my son that I forgot to think of others and their need.  This has really taken my mind off of things that the Lord doesn’t want me to focus on. 🙂

Looking out my window…It’s still dark but it’s a beautiful 61*.  This week has felt so much like fall!  I sat on the front porch with my coffee while our little dog did his business! 🙂  Was very nice!

I am thinking…about our son’s application.  We requested his five years of his medical history almost two weeks ago and we still don’t have it.  Don’t they realize that they are holding up a very important process?!

I am thankful…for our middle daughter.  She’s such a sweet, intelligent, funny, active young lady.  She will make someone a wonderful wife someday!

One of my favorite things…taking a day off in the middle of the week!

I am wearing…blue jeans, work related t-shirt, and tennis shoes (dressing down this week I guess).

I am creating…a month of menus!

I am reading…Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollow and 1001 Arabian Nights.

I’m listening to…The Apostle by John Pollock and Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad

I am hoping…a colorful fall!  With the amount of rain we have had so far this year I am confident it will be a vibrant year!

I am learning…that what I say to a doctor may not always stay with that doctor… 😦

In my kitchen

Monday – Lasagna with salad (missed this one last week)

Tuesday – Bacon, eggs, pancakes

Wednesday – Fish sticks, Fries, and Mac & Cheese (missed this one too)

Thursday – Pork cutlet, mash potatoes with milk gravy, and corn

Friday – Pizza

Saturday – Leftovers

Sunday – Grilled chicken with grilled veggies

Around the homestead (in place of the school room)…This week we will move the cows home from the summer pasture.  We have a heifer that we need to put with the bull.  She was too young in the spring and was pretty small.  We’ve been feeding her grain with the feeder steer so she would be ready now.  She looks good!  I think she will make a great mother… for someone else! (keep in mind our goal to sell out…)

In my garden…As you may have noticed, I did not put one out this year.  I’m kind of torn about it. I’ve enjoyed not having to week and water, pick and can every week.  But I have missed not having the fresh cucumbers, cilantro, and tomatoes.  I may do a small scale garden next year.

Looking out my window…cloudy and still some rain lingering around.  Supposed to warm up today but not as HOT as it has been.  Yesterday was only 75*!  LOVED it!

I am thinking…That time gets away from me so quickly these days.

I am thankful…that school has started!  Our son was starting to get board.

One of my favorite things…a quiet rainy day.

I am wearing…black leggings, long blouse, and black heels.

I am creating…I’m still working on my scarf.  It’s been a couple weeks since I have been able to pick it up.  Can’t sit still that long and I’ve been running late for work (not late but no time to knit before hand).

I am reading…Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollow and 1001 Arabian Nights.

I’m listening to…The Apostle by John Pollock

I am hoping…to get the medical history from the doctor this week.  I really need to get this paperwork turned in.  I really don’t like delays. (Oh that crazy patience thing again!)

I am learning…to multi-task in grand fashion! 😉  I have always had more than one thing going on but I went through a phase of simplifying my life that caused me to get rather laid back.  Now that things have picked up that are beyond  my control I am having to learn to do many things at once again.  Not really as good at it as I once was.  Is it because I am getting older?

In my kitchen

Monday – Meatloaf, sweet potatoes, and green beans

Tuesday – Lasagna with salad

Wednesday – BBQ Pork steaks, Hawaiian macaroni salad, baked beans

Thursday – Polish sausage, kraut, fried potatoes, and corn bread

Friday – Leftovers

Saturday – Pizza

Sunday – Fish sticks, Fries, and Mac & Cheese (missed this one last week)

Around the homestead (in place of the school room)…We had our usual vet come out on Tuesday last week.  He said our cow has had something called Hardware disease.  She swallowed a piece of metal sometime in her life and it has affected her heart which caused the pneumonia.  There was nothing that could be done for her but put her out of her misery.  The hardest thing we’ve ever had to do as homesteaders.  Dig a hole and shoot her! I cried for hours and my husband turned into a meanie!  Men deal with that type of grief differently than women.

In my garden…Our flowers are looking really good with all the rain.  I haven’t had to water for a long time.

Looking out my window…Even though it is still dark, it is so green!  Everything is growing out of control with all the rain and heat we have had. Supposed to rain here again today. It’s a steamy morning already! (soon I will be complaining it’s too cold! LOL!)

I am thinking…there is no way to tell you all what I am thinking right now. Work has become very stressful, hubby’s work is getting the same, the enlistment process for the Air Force is out of control crazy, getting ready to start school this week, and trying to have a life somewhere in between…{{sigh}} sorry, don’t mean to rant already! 🙂

I am thankful…that the Lord is seeing me through all this.

One of my favorite things…working out right now.  Great way to relieve some of this stress.

I am wearing….tan-colored shirt dress with brown belt and brown platform heels.

I am creating…a future for our son… if it can be called creating.  I have to gather so much information due to his ADHD history and pre-adoption issues.  The first “phase” disqualified him so our recruiter asked us to get a little more information. I had to dig up the court documents explaining how he came to be adopted. We gathered a letter from his doctor stating he has been medicine free for over a year and that he shows no current symptoms of ADHD and that he would recommend him for service in the military.  The principle wrote a wonderful letter about what a great student he is and that he has never been a discipline issue.  Also stating that he would recommend him.  Along with 1 year of pharmacy records showing he was off meds. Then they sent back to the recruiter asking for 5 years of medical history with pharmacy records… ARE. YOU. KIDDING. ME?!  So, “Yes Ma’am, I’ll get right on it!” 🙂

I am reading…Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollow and 1001 Arabian Nights.

I’m listening to…Joy FM on the radio.  I don’t have an audio book and I need the uplifting that JOY FM offers..

I am hoping…they come back with a decision on our son within the next week.  This waiting is not good on my nerves.  😉

I am learning…Patience… The one thing I knew never to ask the Lord for or He would teach me and I know it wouldn’t be pretty.  Here I am learning it.  Thank you Lord for you know just what I need! 🙂

In my kitchen

Monday – Spicy beef and bean crockpot meal with brown rice.

Tuesday – Cranberry chicken

Wednesday – Polish sausage stew, kraut, and cornbread

Thursday – Honey BBQ Pork roast with carrots

Friday – Leftovers

Saturday – Pizza

Sunday – Fish sticks, mac and cheese, and broccoli

Around the homestead (in place of the school room)…Here again is another thing that has been very rough.  We went to check the cows in the summer pasture.  Something we don’t normally do but every couple of weeks.  We found one deathly ill!  Got a vet out and she has pneumonia!  Still after about 10 days she still doesn’t seem like she is going to make it!  OH, how I hate with something like this happens to one of ours!  It’s so sad!

The chickens are laying like crazy and enjoying the long day pecking and scratching for bugs in the yard.

In my garden…Our flowers are looking really good with all the rain.  I haven’t had to water for a long time.

stress

A moment from my day Closing Notes: I was hoping to have all this stress wrapped up before I came back to blogging.  I wanted to come back and give you all great news that our son was accepted into the Air Force.  But, we are still working through that.  The Lord has been good and given me encouragement throughout this process.  I can’t say that I’ve been “up” most of the time because I have allowed fear to grip my heart a couple of times.  Then I will hear something inspiring on JOY FM that reminds me that the Lord loves our son and wants what is best for him too

At any rate, I’m back and I hope you can bear with me through this process.  Thank you for the kind notes check up on me!

Posting a day early because tomorrow is my Nightstand post…

Looking out my window…Dry!!! Everything is turning brown.  It’s over cast this morning and very humid!  With the extreme heat that we have been having there’s a chance for a pop up shower but they always seem to miss us.

I am thinking…The weekend was way too short

I am thankful…for the weekends!

One of my favorite things…I’d say weekends but you might leave! 🙂  Relaxing days with my hubby.

I am wearing….white pats with a read sleeveless shirt and white Keds.

I am creating…nothing new…

I am reading…Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince

I’m listening to…A Measure of Mercy by Lauraine Snelling.

I am hoping…that the week goes pretty quick.  I’m excited/nervous about taking our son to the recruiter on Friday.

I am learning…that life is too short to keep reading something that I just can’t stand!

In my kitchen

Monday – baked chicken with stuffing and green beans

Tuesday – .Meatloaf with baked potatoes and carrots

Wednesday – Fish sticks, fries, and mac and cheese

Thursday – Tuna casserole and broccoli

Friday – Leftovers

Saturday – Pizza

Sunday – Chicken strips and salad

Around the homestead (in place of the school room)…It’s very dry.  We aren’t doing much but making sure everything has good clean water and shade.

In my garden…It’s dry there too.  Having to water regularly.

Post Script…my blog reading has been sporadic this past week.  Nothing is really coming to mind to share.  I’ve done no recreational reading other than a few pages in my book this week.

Looking out my window…It’s a humid overcast morning.

I am thinking…we really need some rain!  Our hay is in the barn and the fields need a good watering.

I am thankful…for God’s goodness!

One of my favorite things…cutting the grass.  I know… crazy.  But we have a couple acres to mow and I use a rider.  I can meditate on the beauty of the Lord or listen to my book or sing as loud as I want and nobody will care! 🙂

I am wearing….black and teal dress with black slip on heels.

I am creating…Back to work on that scarf.  I’m trying to knit when I get the opportunity to sit and then I also listen to my audio book.

I am reading…Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince and The Evil Genius.  Making a little progress this week! 🙂

I finished 52 Lessons from It’s a Wonderful Life.  I just couldn’t take it slow.  It was a great book and I wanted to pass it on to Grandma and my girls.

I’m listening to…to my sister’s CD.

I am hoping…that our meeting with the Air Force recruiter goes well on July 1st.

I am learning…that all is not in my control! (imagine that!)

In my kitchen

Monday – Tator tot Casserole with green beans (Missed this one last week)

Tuesday – .Lasagna with salad

Wednesday – Fish sticks, fries, and mac and cheese.

Thursday – Kilbasa with cabbage and fried potaotes

Friday – Chicken pot pie

Saturday – Leftovers

Sunday – BBQ, Hawaiian Macaroni salad, baked beans

Around the homestead (in place of the school room)…The hay is finished!  We are no longer a slave to the homestead!  Free! I say we are free!!!

In my garden…The flowers are still alive! 🙂  I actually had to water this weekend.  The rain has shut off just like I thought it might back when we were getting torrential down  pours.

I am thinking…about my quarterly deep cleaning schedule that comes up in July!  I will probably be adding a few things to it.

I am thankful…for my family no matter how dysfunctional we may see to other people.

One of my favorite things…Our pool.  It’s wonderful to have in this oppressive heat.

I am wearing…Aqua dress with cream color platform sandles.

I am creating…still working on that scarf.  I haven’t picked it up much lately with the books I have going and the lawn mowing.

I am reading…Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince, The Evil Genius, and 52 Little Lessons from It’s a Wonderful Life.

Too much going on at once.  It’s been a while since I had this problem.

I’m listening to…hubby preparing his breakfast.

I am hoping…That our daughter get the RT position open in the hospital near the military base close by.  It’s a government job and she will have great benefits and a shorter drive.

I am learning…to plan.  Have I said that before?  It seems like I have but I think I am getting better at it at any rate.  There are so many areas that I have to plan out in order to keep my life from feeling like a Tilt-a-whirl ride at the fair!  Menus, chores to keep son busy and the homestead up, working out, family time, the pool  maintenance, and calendars for everyone updated….

In my kitchen

Monday – Baked chicken thighs, broccoli, rice pilaf.

Tuesday – Sloppy Joe, fries, and fruit.

Wednesday – Chili dogs and macaroni salad

Thursday – Enchiladas with chips and salsa

Friday – Tator Tot Casserole with green beans

Saturday – Leftovers

Sunday – Kraut and Kilbasa, fried potatoes, and green beans

Around the homestead (in place of the school room)…First hay fields are done and hay is in the barn.  Took longer to get the hay in because I usually shuttle the bales across the field to the barn while hubby puts them in with the skid steer.  Only, the skid steer is having issues; it won’t start… we worked on it all afternoon on Saturday to no avail. Then we noticed the baler has a flat.  The tire can’t be fixed.  It must be replaced.  Another costly expense for the homesteader.

In my garden…I finally got some annuals put in the garden posts.  It looks like the Azalea is about dead… I will have to replace that one I guess.

Post Script…I know I have pointed out this blog before but this post was so encouraging and extremely helpful to me.  I am working on printing these scriptures out and putting them around my home!  Barbara is an inspiration to me!

Looking out my window…It’s early but the sun is shinning above the eastern tree tops.  It looks like it’s going to be a great day.  Too bad I have to go to work.

I am thinking…about changing my workout routine up a little bit.  I’ve been doing some reading you see and I think I want to follow a “plan”.

I am thankful…for two weekends away!

One of my favorite things…SUNSHINE.  I hope summer has arrived! 🙂

I am wearing…Light pink dress with big black buttons and black heals.

I am creating…a memory album of places we visit.

I am reading

2175 On my Kindle for Classics Club Challenge.  zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz!

I’m listening to…this Wilkie Collins novel

I am hoping…That June is not a cool rainy month.  If this week is any indication it won’t be.  {{SMILES}}

I am learning…still and probably forever!  that I am not in control of things.  Let go and let God is what I have to keep telling myself over and over and over… 😉

In my kitchen

Monday – Meatloaf

Tuesday – Breakfast

Wednesday – Baked Fish

Thursday – Mexican

Friday – Leftovers

Saturday – Salmon patties

Sunday – Grilling out today!

Around the homestead (in place of the school room)…Pretty much the same as last week.  The cows are in the summer pastures and all is well.  We are getting ready to put down the first hay field.

In my garden…Wasn’t home this weekend to do anything with it.  Next weekend maybe I will get out and play in the dirt.

Post Script…another week of not much blog reading!  I really need to get out and visit more.  I hope to get back to some normalcy.  I don’t think we will be taking any more weekend trips for quite a while.

Looking out my window…It’s a warm overcast morning.  There isn’t much of a breeze.  There is a possibility of rain today.  I hope it get’s it over with before the weekend.

I am thinking…that we only have one more year left with our son.  If things go as planned for him he will leave for the Air Force or some branch of the military next summer.

I am thankful…for the gym. It helps me to “de-stress”.

One of my favorite things…fresh manicure and pedicure.

I am wearing…blue jeans, safety orange t-shirt, orange and white nikes.  (it’s safety week at work)

I am creating…travel plans for Memorial weekend. Oh please don’t rain, please don’t rain!

I am reading (read) /watching (watched) / listening to….

2175 On my Kindle for Classics Club Challenge.  I can only get a few pages in at a time.  I am more focused on getting HP finished!2 In Hardback form also for my Classics Club Challenge.  The library let me keep it an extra two weeks.  I am getting through it because it is my main focus. I’ve got about 100 pages left to go.14287140 I decided to move through this two chapters a week. They are really small chapters and each has a simple life lesson.

I am hoping…that everything goes well while hubby and I are away next weekend.  It very rarely does 😦

I am learning…a lot about the military.  Trying to help our son figure out what branch he wants to go into.

In my kitchen

Monday – Kilbasa with kraut, fried potatoes, and baked beans

Tuesday – BBQ pork steaks & Brats with sweet potatoes and green beans

Wednesday – Tuna noodle casserole

Thursday – Cheeseburgers and Fries

Friday – Beef roast, potatoes and carrots

Saturday – Leftovers

Sunday – Pizza

Around the homestead (in place of the school room)…this week will be our son’s first week out of school.  We are putting him to work! 🙂  The yard work will keep him busy enough this summer.  We also have fence that needs sprayed.  When we get back from our trip it will be time to get the hay equipment out and ready to bale hay.  Praying the weather cooperates and we can get it done.

In my garden…WHAT garden!?  I have yet to get any flowers planted in my beds!  I thought about doing it on Sunday but I was too tired. I just wanted to lay around

IMAG0437

The garden beds are still a mess from last year.

Post Script…I haven’t had much time this week to get around to read much but with Father’s day coming up I thought you might enjoy this Place

A moment from my day Closing Notes:  I will be leaving Saturday morning on a trip, weather permitting.  Not returning until Monday afternoon.  I won’t be around for the Sunday Salon but I’m sure Linda and Melanie will be around!

Looking out my window...

Looking across the hay field up by the barn. Sunday was beautiful even if it was a tad chilly. This morning it is still raining and has turned cold.

I am thinking... That farm life is getting harder the older I get

I am thankful...this time that I have with Grandma.  Even though each day is hard, and seem to be getting harder, I wouldn't have her anywhere else.

One of my favorite things...quiet mornings.

I am wearing...blue jeans, black hoodie, and black and white Nike tennis shoes.

I am creating...that scarf that I was working on last week.

I am reading (read) /watching (watched) / listening to....

2175

On my Kindle for Classics Club Challenge {{sigh}} I might get it done this month.  I made some progress this past week.

In Hardback form also for my Classics Club Challenge.  Making progress but still quite a way to go.

Still listening to this one while I knit and/or drive.

I am taking this ONE chapter a week.  I am sitting in chapter two this week.

I am hoping...that hubby and I can go out and see my sister in Utah someday soon!

I am learning...that there are some people you can never please.

 In my kitchen...
Monday - meatloaf, mashed potatoes, and green beans.
Tuesday - Chili (I know! One more time)
Wednesday -Breakfast
Thursday - Chicken & Broccoli Alfredo
Friday - leftovers
Saturday - Pizza (every Saturday)
Sunday - BBQ pork steaks and brats!!!

Around the homestead (in place of the school room)...Taking three bred cows to the sale barn today.  They did not calve within our time frame (we want to be calved out by first of May), so they have to go.  We may buy three cows that are open that we can just put in with our new bull to replace the three sold.

IMAG0430

In my garden...I wanted to get my flower beds planted with some annuals this past weekend but it did not happen.  Maybe this coming weekend if it is warmer and not raining.

Post Script...Are you Happy?

Some days I feel just like this!

Closing Notes:  It was a very active week last week.  I am trying to put the breaks on this week.  Remember, I'm trying to slow down and enjoy the scenery! God has given us a beautiful place and I'm just blazing around in it not taking time to "see" anything. 🙂  Hope you have a wonderful week wherever you are.

Looking out my window…I see cloudy skies and rain.  Looks like it’s going to hang on for some time.  The green of the trees sharply contrasting against the grey skies.
I am thinking…of all the things I could do if I did not have to go to work today.  Being off yesterday has made me rather lazy I think.

I am thankful…that our warehouse shut down yesterday for some maintenance and I didn’t have to go to work!

One of my favorite things…having a day to myself.

I am wearing…blue jeans, yellow and white striped top with Keds tennis shoes.
I am creating…a new scarf!  Yes, I have finally picked up the needles again.  I was really discouraged when I “slammed” them down.  So I thought I would cast on a simple project to start.  One that doesn’t take too much brain power.  However, right after I changed colors, I got my knits and Purls off!  But fixed it and now things are going smooth.  I’ll share it tomorrow…
I am reading (read) /watching (watched) / listening to… I have three things going on…I am reading two books and listening to another.
2175
On my Kindle for Classics Club Challenge (Goodness this is a hard one to stay into.  It’s rather boring right now.)

In Hardback form also for my Classics Club Challenge (Can these books get any bigger?!  They take me forever and the library thinks I’ve stolen them each time!)

Listening to this one and it so refreshing after listening to the one below.  I’ll get around to reviewing it soon.

I am taking this ONE chapter a week.  I will be reading/pondering it for a year!   I’m sure that is how the author intended it to be.
I will be reviewing these books soon someday.
I am hoping…that when I get my reading challenges complete I will be able to pick up my knitting again.  I really miss it!  In fact, I may just get me an audio book and a simple project like a scarf to work on.
I am learning…to use WordPress.  I blogged here a long time ago but it has changed a lot.  I also have blogged here… but I am backing away from that blog.
In my kitchen…I have always shared our weekly menu here and I think I will continue as it helps to keep me organized and my grocery bill in check.
Monday – Southwest Chicken bake (new recipe which was a big hit)
Tuesday – Breakfast casserole
Wednesday – Cheeseburgers and fries
Thursday – Lasagna and broccoli
Friday – Lefftovers
Saturday – Pizza
Sunday – grilling meat and veggies today!
Around the homestead (in place of the school room)… I did not home school so I share about our farm here
 IMAG0401
In my garden…I am not putting out a vegetable garden this year but I do have a flower bed and some potted plants this year.
Post Script…I thought this was a great post by Barbara at Stray Thoughts!  Check it out, makes so much sense!

The restaurant Hubby took me to on Saturday night for Mother’s Day.  So elegant!

Closing Notes: I really hope that if you don’t already join Peggy that you will give it a shot.  You don’t have to join every week.  Maybe once a month is all you can do.  I don’t always make it but I enjoy it.
