Even though I am struggling with GERD I am so thankful that overall I have great health. Together my husband and I workout 4 to 5 nights a week and try to eat healthy. More so now with acid reflux.
A young lady of 42 came in my office this week and told me she was diagnosed with breast cancer. There is no family history so it wasn’t anything she had really ever considered. Please keep this lady in your prayers.
Getting our oldest daughter back in our lives has been so wonderful! Not only did we get her but we’ve come to realize what a nice man she has. Then there are the two wonderful boys. Yes some day soon I will be able to say I am a “grandma”! I am thankful for these new relationships that have come to us! I enjoy them so much!
It’s been a long time since I have been posting regularly here. I miss it very much and I feel guilty for being away so long. Then I start to convince myself that I don’t have anything positive to say so I stay away longer than I should. It was just a decision I made to jump back in and I am so glad I did. I want to start posting about my journey with gastroesophageal reflux disease. Jump starting my workout schedule/plan is also something I would like to share. I’m so thankful to be back among friends yet again. I feel like l say (do) this every few months. Thank you for sticking with me!
It never fails! Things going along wonderfully when suddenly the washing machine goes out! This is happening every 2 -3 years! They just don’t make them like they used to. I had a Maytag that lasted 15 years. When that one wore out I bought another; from there it was all down hill. Every 2-3 years. We repair them several times before we decide we have spent enough on it. I am thankful today for the “backup” washing machine that is hooked up in the garage for washing farm clothes. This old Roper was purchased at an appliance repair shop several years ago. Again, they don’t make them like they used to.
I probably do not say it enough… how thankful I am for my husband. This past year has been a growing time for us. Even though we have been married for almost 30 years it’s amazing what an empty nest can do. We enjoy each others company, we do things together, we talk, and I know I can always count on him.
We are in a wonderful season of our lives and we are living each day to the fullest!
Signs of Spring: trees budding out, grass greening up, Robins migrating back, daffodils blooming, and the ground warm under my feet.
A beautiful time of year when things become New!
Sometimes I struggle to come up with things to be thankful for even though I know there is so much that I am thankful for. Did that make sense? It might be easier today if I just list a few things…
As I sit here in the dimly lit livingroom I think back to the time when our table was full. It seems like only yesterday but then it seems like ages ago at the same time. I miss those days and then I am happy that the “work” of raising the family is done. How strange it feels to have conflicting emotions.
I say this to say that I am thankful for the memories that I have. There were many great times and there were many hard times but I will cling to all those memories as time goes by and we continue to make new memories.
I just can’t say enough how thankful I am to have my daughter back in my life! I’m so proud of her and her accomplishments, her little family, and her wisdom. She’s grown into a beautiful young lady. Thank you Lord for this beautiful soul.
A small list today to remind me that there us plenty to be thankful for even though I sometimes take things for granted.
Plenty to eat
Hope you have a blessed day!
For my family! After two years of our oldest not speaking to us we have finally got it all worked out. We spent two hours at her home discussing our issues. Her boyfriend was very nice and composed. In the end he made the statement that we have a relationship to work on. This momma is so happy to hear him talk like that! Thank you to all my friends for keeping this situation in your prayers.
Because I am a lover of summer I am thankful that I don’t live any farther north than I do. I cannot believe the temperatures this week! I feel (pray) for the homeless, animals, and folks that have to work outside.
I’m thankful too that I leave for Mexico Monday morning… and of course temperatures will be back in the 60’s.
It’s been a long time since I posted a Thankful Thursday post. When there is so much to be thankful for I could actually post it every day!
This week I am si thankful that we have a wood burning furnace. The weather has been so cold and wet that our electricity bill would be out of control or I would be frozen to the couch!
It was wisdom that my hubby used when we built our home nearly 20 years ago. Now we should more wisdom when it comes to having enough wood for the season. We have been out cutting down dead trees as we need it this year.
Over the years I always posted daily a list of things I am thankful for throughout the month of November. It’s not that I’m not thankful anymore but I am most thankful right now for each day and the people in those days.
Making my way back into blog land is not going to be stressful and take away the spontaneity of every day life.
Hope you all are having a great week!
Where has this week gone?! 🙂 Remember I said I was trying to be more intentional about being in the moment instead of wishing my days away… They are just zooming by now that I’m not thinking about another day instead of the one I’m in.
1 – Good doctors: We were at the hospital late last night with my SIL. She has many problems that have not been properly diagnosed. A different hospital sent her on into St. Louis to really good one. I pray she will get the answers she needs to have better quality of life!
2 – The Credit Union. We got a call on Tuesday from our Credit Union stating that our credit card has been used fraudulently! I am so thankful that they know us well enough to know that this was NOT us.
3 – Texting – It makes it easier to keep in touch with my kids and family when we are unable to actually make a phone call.
4 – Good teachers – Our son is doing very well in Algebra 2 because he has the best teacher in our district this year. Both my girls had her and just can’t say enough about how well she does at explaining things.
5 – The Word – Committing parts of it to memory or just reading it over and over has been the best thing I have ever done. It comes to you just when you need it. At a loved ones sick bed, during a crisis, when you need encouragement, or want to encourage!
1 – for my little George Foreman
2 – for two washing machines (I needed them both this week)
3 – audio books
4 – trusted mechanic
5 – answered prayers
So that I don’t become over whelmed by my to do list I am posting this every other week (as I will post another weekly post every other week).
1 – School is back in session! – It’s been a great start to the school year. Our son is doing wonderful as a Senior! They now have laptops and he is staying on top of his classes very well with it. He has been getting involved. Friday night he worked the concession stand at the football game, he’s been to FFA meetings and taking on some responsibility there. Praying he can keep it all together!
2 – The master bedroom – I know that sounds weird but it is our “sanctuary”. It’s where I can go to get a few minutes peace and quiet. It’s where I can go to rest, to read, to not have any distractions. Everyone knows that when the door is closed you only knock if it is very important.
3 – Audio books – if it weren’t for audio books I don’t think I could keep up with my TBR pile. There are lots of books that I checkout from my local library via my phone.
4 – My Hubby! He was out of town for most of this week. It’s been a long time since we have been separated for any length of time. Made me really appreciate him and miss him terribly!
5 – For God’s plan…no matter what it is I’m sure he has my best interest in mind!
For the most part I have been wishing my weeks away. I can’t wait for this day or for that day. Mostly because I have something I need to get through. It is causing me to miss out on all that I have to be thankful for.
1 – A wonderful Sergeant – We have a really nice recruiter that we are working with. She tries real hard to keep me from getting down in this whole process without giving me false hopes.
2 – My job – even though in this season it seems to be very stressful I am thankful that I work in an office (it’s hot out there) and that it is rewarding most days. My bosses both really appreciate all that I do even though I leave feeling like I have been run over by something really large!
3 – Day trips – My wonderful hubby is also under a lot of stress at work so I am thankful that one day each weekend we have been trying to get away from the farm and all the responsibilities that are here. I know that sounds cowardly but we need to have on day and evening of peace. Nobody needing anything from either of us.
4 – For the gym! It gives us an hour each night to go and
punch I mean workout! And makes you so tired that you fall into bed and sleep without a care in the world!
5 – Our middle daughter – So that I can go to the gym three nights a week she makes dinner for her, her brother, and grandma. She is home Monday through Thursday and she really likes to cook! She’s such a sweet girl!
That’s about all I can muster for now. Praying that the Lord opens my eyes to all the wonderful things around me and that I don’t dwell on the craziness of my days!
I almost forgot it was Thursday! I’ve been so busy today I haven’t even had time to get around to reading my friends posts! Here’s a few quick things that I can think of that I am thankful for today.
1 – Air Condition… Even though I love the warmer weather it’s nice when you come in to a cool house after working out in the heat.
2 – Great bosses… My bosses are really awesome. I was so worried when my former boss retired and I got two new ones in my office. They both are Godly men and care about me as an associate.
3 – Our renters…We have the best renters on the planet! They love our old little farm-house and they are they have a nice little garden going. I look down the road and see their chickens out; it looks almost like a postcard! 🙂
4 – Morning knitting time… If you read my Yarn Along post this week you know that my knitting time is about 30 minutes in the morning sitting in my vehicle waiting to go in to work. It is actually helping me to stay balanced.
5 – 27 years of marriage… Tomorrow hubby and I will be married 27 years. We have been together for 31. We both feel that God brought us together and we have always worked hard, together, on all issues that arise. We are definitely soul mates. We have not big celebration plans this weekend as it will be very hot and the chances of rain are too great to head out on the bike or anything like that.
Hope you find something in your week to be thankful for!
“Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God.” Colossians 3:16
“give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” 1 Thessalonians 5:18
Just had to find a few scriptures on thankfulness to remind myself that God wants us to be thankful. In. ALL. things. So here is another short list.
1 – Even though we had a tire go bad on the baler…I’m thankful for my frugal hubby who found two for the price of one with free shipping! He’s so awesome!
2 – We were going to the movie Sunday afternoon. Trying to squeeze one more thing into our weekend… The theater was having technical difficulties so they were closed. Thankful that we could go home, grill, and just chill!
3 – Even though I love these warmer days I am thankful that I can come into a cool home. The AC is wonderful! See, I like the
warm hot weather but I don’t like it if I have to WORK in it.
4 – Time spent with my dad. I went to see him on his birthday this week. I didn’t get to stay a very long time but I enjoyed the time just talking with him.
5 – Winter vacation plans. We are working on setting up a trip to Playa del Carmen Mexico with both my sisters and their husbands! We went with one sister last winter and now the baby sister is thinking she might be able to go this year! I am so excited. I hope this works out!
What are you thankful for this week?
